Sizemore to have knee surgery Friday

CLEVELAND (AP)—Cleveland Indians All-Star center fielder Grady Sizemore(notes) willhave surgery on his left knee Friday in Colorado.
The Indians said Thursday the arthroscopic procedure will be performed byorthopedic specialist Dr. Richard Steadman in Vail. Steadman will assess thecondition and stability of the cartilage beneath Sizemore’s kneecap. There is apossibility Sizemore could have microfracture surgery, where holes are drilledinto the knee to stimulate cartilage growth.
Sizemore missed the final month last season after having surgery on hisabdomen and left elbow, injuries that hounded him throughout the worst year ofhis career.
