Heat snap skid at 5, beat Rockets 99-66

MIAMI (AP)—Desperate to snap a five-game losing streak, the Miami Heat racedto their largest halftime lead of the season and beat the short-handed HoustonRockets 99-66 on Tuesday night.
The Heat shot 13 for 15 during a 9 1/2 -minute stretch in the first half and led56-31 at halftime.

Dwyane Wade(notes) had 17 points and seven assists before sitting out the fourthquarter. He was also on the bench for a breather to start the second quarterwhen the Heat outscored Houston 17-4 to go up 41-20.
Houston was without guards Trevor Ariza(notes) (hip pointer) and Kyle Lowry(notes)(sprained left ankle). The Rockets shot 30 percent, including 4 for 18 from3-point range, and their point total was a season low.
It was Miami’s fourth win by at least 30 points this season.
Six players scored in double figures for the Heat, who swept the two-gameseason series. Udonis Haslem(notes) made seven of his first eight shots and finishedwith 14 points and 14 rebounds. Reserve Dorell Wright(notes) reached his career high inassists after 16 minutes and finished with seven to go with nine points and sixrebounds.
Reserve Carlos Arroyo(notes) tied a season high with 12 points. The Heat benchtotaled 48 points.
Wade took an elbow to the nose early in the game, but the Rockets were infull retreat after that. Miami outscored them 20-4 during one stretch in thefirst half when Houston missed 11 consecutive shots.
The Rockets sank four 3-pointers early in the second half to cut the deficitto 17, but Wade defused the rally with a pair of baskets. He made a steal nearmidcourt and drove in for a flying dunk, then snaked through the defense for afinger-roll layup and a 69-46 lead.
NOTES: It was the Heat’s last home game for two weeks.
