Falcons release CB Hill, sign S Giordano

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. (AP)—The Atlanta Falcons have released former first-roundpick Tye Hill(notes) and signed safety Matt Giordano(notes).
Hill was the 15th overall pick in 2006 by St. Louis. After threedisappointing years with the Rams, he was dealt to Atlanta shortly before thestart of last season for a seventh-round pick.
In eight games with the Falcons, Hill had seven tackles and oneinterception. He was released Tuesday.
Giordano is a five-year NFL veteran who played for the Indianapolis Coltsfrom 2005-08 and spent last season with the Green Bay Packers. He has been in 60games, including six starts, and totaled 79 tackles with three interceptions.
