RB Tomlinson meets with Jets

NEW YORK (AP)—LaDainian Tomlinson(notes) is at the New York Jets’ training facilityin Florham Park, N.J., meeting with team officials about joining the offensethat ranked No. 1 in rushing last season.
Tomlinson’s visit Friday comes a day after meeting with the MinnesotaVikings and leaving without a deal. He arrived in the New York area Thursdaynight.
Tomlinson, released by San Diego last month, ranks eighth on the NFL’scareer rushing list with 12,490 yards. If he chooses to join the Jets, Tomlinsonwould serve as a backup to Shonn Greene(notes), who emerged in his rookie season andmade Thomas Jones(notes) expendable. Jones signed with Kansas City earlier this week.
Tomlinson will turn 31 in June and is coming off the least productive seasonof his career.
