BRIEF-Golf-New Zealand Open moved to January (Reuters)

WELLINGTON, July 6 (Reuters) – Next year’s New Zealand Opengolf tournament will revert back to a January time slot afterbeing shifted to March this season.

New Zealand Golf (NZG) said on Monday the event,co-sanctioned by the Australasian and U.S. secondary tours,would be held at the private Hills course near Arrowtown fromJan. 28-31.

“Over many years we have found that January has alwaysproved the most popular with golf fans and the sportingpublic,” NZG chief executive Bill MacGowan said in a statement.
