Golf-Woods applauded Federer, then won tournament (Reuters)

BETHESDA, Maryland, July 5 (Reuters) – Shortly after RogerFederer won his record 15th grand slam title at Wimbledon,Tiger Woods sent the Swiss a congratulatory text message.
“I think it was 14-all when we were all on the puttinggreen, and then I went to the range and I heard that he hadheld and then he broke to win,” Woods told reporters on Sunday.
Woods said he sent the simple message, which read “greatjob. Now it’s my turn”, before he teed off. The American thenwent on to win the AT&T National tournament he hosts by astroke.
Woods said he and good friend Federer occasionally prodeach other along with a competitive banter of text messages.
Last month, Federer won his first French Open, while Woodswon the Memorial Tournament, at about the same time.
“He won the French and I won Memorial, so it was kind oflet’s do it on the same day, let’s do it again today,” Woodssaid of the tone of Sunday’s messages.
“His (wins) are a hell of a lot bigger than mine, though.He won two slams and I won two tour events.
“Hopefully I can get the majors now.”
