Play canceled at Puerto Rico Open

RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico (AP)—Heavy rain has forced organizers to cancel playon the opening day of the PGA Tour’s Puerto Rico Open.
Steady downpours Thursday washed out the first round on the 7,526-yard TrumpInternational course in Rio Grande. Six inches of rain had fallen on theoceanside course by early afternoon.
The first round was rescheduled for Friday morning.
Before play was suspended at 7:19 a.m., Skip Kendall hit an eagle on thepar-4 10th hole. Eighteen players teed off before the suspension.
The $3.5 million tournament in Puerto Rico is being held opposite the WorldGolf Championship at Doral, which has attracted the best players from around theworld.
