Osiecki named new OSU hockey coach

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP)—Mark Osiecki (oh-SICK’-ee) was announced Saturday as OhioState’s new men’s ice hockey head coach.
The top assistant at Wisconsin the last six years, Osiecki replaces JohnMarkell, who was fired after last season.
Osiecki also served as head coach and general manager of the Green BayGamblers in the United States Hockey League for seven seasons.
A former Wisconsin defenseman, he was taken in the NHL draft by the CalgaryFlames and also played with the Ottawa Senators, Winnipeg Jets and MinnesotaNorth Stars before a wrist injury ended his six-year career.
He helped coach the Badgers to the NCAA championship game this season andalso was on the staff when they won the title in 2006.
