C. Michigan’s Jones to coach Cincinnati

CINCINNATI (AP)—A person familiar with Cincinnati’s coaching search tells TheAssociated Press that Central Michigan’s Butch Jones has emerged as the school’schoice to replace Brian Kelly.
The Morning Sun in Mt. Pleasant, Mich., reported on Tuesday night that Joneshad begun negotiating a contract with Cincinnati. A person familiar withCincinnati’s search, speaking on condition of anonymity because no deal wascomplete, confirmed Jones was the top option.
Kelly accepted Notre Dame’s coaching job last Thursday. He came toCincinnati from Central Michigan three years ago, and was succeeded by Jones,who continued the Chippewas’ success.
