FSU QB Ponder could miss Clemson game

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP)—Quarterback Christian Ponder has bruised ribs and couldmiss Florida State’s game Saturday at Clemson.

Coach Bobby Bowden said Sunday that coaches will have to see at practicethis week how badly the sore ribs bother Ponder, who is having one of the bestseasons of any quarterback in school history.

The Seminoles (4-4, 2-3 Atlantic Coast Conference) need a win againstClemson (5-3, 3-2) to keep alive any hopes of winning their division andsneaking into the ACC title game next month in Tampa.

Ponder, who ranks third nationally in total offense per game, was injuredearly in Saturday’s 45-42 win over North Carolina State, but played despite thepain.
