December 20, 2009

DETROIT (AP)—Michigan cornerback Donovan Warren has declared for the NFLdraft.

Warren told The Associated Press on Sunday he believes it’s the right timeto take his game to the next level.

“I’m confident in my ability,” he said. “I’m ready for the next chapterin my life.”

The junior from Long Beach, Calif., had asked the NFL Draft Advisory Boardto project when he would be selected if chose to go pro.

“It was pretty broad, but they said I could go in the first or secondround,” said Warren, adding he has signed with agent Drew Rosenhaus.

Warren said he informed coach Rich Rodriguez of his decision earlier onSunday.

“He was real supportive,” Warren said. “He said to let him know ifthere’s anything he can to do help. He also encouraged me to finish my degree.”

Warren’s four interceptions led the Wolverines in 2009, when no other playeron the lackluster defense had more than two.

Michigan will have a hard time replacing Warren and outgoing seniordefensive end Brandon Graham.
