Notre Dame AD denies contacting coaches

STANFORD, Calif. (AP)—Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick says hehas not contacted any coaches about a potential vacancy if Charlie Weis is firedafter the season.
Swarbrick spoke before the Fighting Irish (6-5) played their regular seasonfinale at Stanford on Saturday night. He says any reports that Notre Dame hascontacted coaches or authorized a third party to contact coaches is “simply nottrue.”
Swarbrick says he evaluate Weis’ status “in earnest” after Saturday’sgame. He says there is no timetable about when he plans to meet with Weis. Weisis flying home with the team after the game instead of going on a recruitingtrip as originally planned.
Weis has a 35-26 record in five seasons.
