West leaves Tulsa for Illinois staff

TULSA, Okla. (AP)—Co-defensive coordinator Ron West has left Tulsa’sfootball staff to become an assistant coach for Illinois.
Tulsa announced West’s departure Monday, saying he would coach insidelinebackers for the Illini. West had spent only one season at Tulsa afterpreviously serving as defensive coordinator at Clemson.
Clarence James also resigned from Tulsa’s staff after one season. He hadbeen the Golden Hurricane’s outside receivers coach and director of recruiting.
